The evening of November 8th, 2016 was the first time I can say that I felt afraid. Real fear; the kind that sends a chill up your spine. I am privileged enough to have made it 25 years without experiencing this feeling before, but better late than never to wake up and see how fucked everything is.
I made this page because I want to talk about the fuckery, build community and spread truth. I will not allow fear to paralyze me, but I will let it force me into action.
The Longest 100 Days of My Life & Outing the Aunt Lydias of America
MAY 09, 2017
Last week I could not help thinking, “Has it really only been 100 days of Trump’s administration? It has felt like an eternity, long before April 29th. With so much bullshit that has already transpired one worries that there won’t even be fucking air to breathe at the end of four years. Maybe it seems longer because we have had to listen to this asshole all throughout summer 2016; never believing he would become president. As I reflect I realize it was not smart to ever doubt this Trump monster. Changes do not happen overnight. The signals, while weak, are present and were present at the moment that walking pork rind threw his hat in the ring. We (the people) had already lost when the he was nominated by the RNC.
Hindsight is 20/20 and all that and I am pretty sure that if you are reading this, you have read another two dozen takes on “Oh my god what went wrong?!”, but I digress….
We lost again when the DNC chose to divide those of us who are left-leaning by nominating Hillary Clinton. Tsk tsk, DNC - blinded by bourgeoisie. Popular-vote count aside, I still am not sure she was the right match for Trump. Honestly, when I think back to HillDog’s campaign in its final weeks, it seems like it was just an anti-Trump campaign. In other words, she was too busy battling all the crazy shit he was saying and doing that it overshadowed her own platform. What did she want to do again? Build a wall? Oh, wait…
November 9th is when everyone started theorizing and publishing their thoughts and opinions on the “Jesus christ is this real?” and the “How the FUCK did he win?” Amidst all of the stats and headlines, something my father (a long-time Republican who is very-vocally Anti-Trump) stood out to me the most: “Women just do not like to see other women get ahead.” This gave me pause. Between summer 2016 and fall 2017, I think I had imagined it impossible that any woman would vote for Trump. But, they fucking did. This leads me to the second part of my title.
If you have read or have watched The Handmaid’s Tale (oooh, trendy), you are probably familiar with Aunt Lydia. She is character who is a special kind of loathsome and if you have not read or have not watched The Handmaid’s Tale I will dumb it down for you even further - Aunt Lydia is that bitch you know who is completely content with the organized oppression of women. She is most likely a cisgendered, white woman (white women, I am coming for you again in later posts so if this chaps your privileged pussy lips, I suggest you do a bit a of self-psychoanalysis as to why). This, coincidentally, is exactly how Aunt Lydia is portrayed on the show. Now, I understand that there are many things to consider when selecting your next president. I understand we do not all have the same values. But what I do not understand is how a woman (and probably the same woman who was mad Clinton got his dick sucked), can still want to have a president in office who has had multiple sexual assault charges filed against him.
There are shades and layers to this whole Aunt Lydia comparison. I can try to provide some examples of who these succubi might be:
- Women incharge at work who make it harder for other women to get ahead, just because “Well I had to do it the hard way so, so do you.” i.e. no flex-time policies for working moms - WTF
- American women who say that we (as women) do not have it that bad. - WTF, ok yes, on an international scale/comparison, maybe we don’t. But so we should be complacent? “That bad” is not GOOD, so shut the fuck up. Also, this says nothing for our further marginalized communities i.e. Women of Color, trans women etc. Are you going to try and tell me that they don’t have it that bad. Wake up.
- Women who question what it is you did when the guy does not text back. - WTF, what I did was entertain a fuckboy for longer than the motherfucker deserved. Goodbye.
- Women who say they are a men’s rights activist. - WTF are men’s right and do they go hand-in-hand with whatever the fuck “white culture/identity” is?
- Women who think the promotion of women’s rights is discriminatory. - WTF, this person has most likely also made an “All Live Matter”-esque tweet.
- Women who simply turn a blind-eye to the bullshit surrounding sex, race, gender issues and more. - a special “go fuck yaself” to you gals.
I am sorry that I do not have the answer as to how to make sense of these women. I just think it is important to know they are out there and not let them stop you.
